SEO (search engine optimisation) is making your website easy for Google to find, read and show to the right people. For a small business, that mostly means: does your site come up when someone nearby searches for what you do?

GEO (generative engine optimisation) is the same idea for AI search. More people now ask ChatGPT, Google's AI answers or Perplexity things like "who builds decks in Cromwell?" These tools read websites and summarise them. If your site is clear and well labelled, they can understand your business and describe it correctly.

We write your copy so it answers real questions plainly: what you do, where you do it, who it's for and how to get in touch. That's the kind of content AI tools can understand and quote. Combined with the labelled business details, it gives them a clear, accurate picture of your business.

Your copy names the towns you actually serve, and your details match your Google Business Profile, so Google sees one consistent business. Google Business Profile setup is included in the five-page package and available as an add-on for one-page sites.

We connect your site to Google Search Console, Google's free tool that shows which searches your site appears for, and submit your sitemap. Like your hosting, the account is yours.

What nobody can honestly promise

No web designer can guarantee you the top spot on Google or a mention in ChatGPT. Anyone who does is guessing. Where you rank also depends on your competition, your reviews and how long your site has been around. New sites usually take weeks to months to settle into their positions.

What we can promise is a site that Google and AI tools can read properly from day one, with nothing holding it back.

What helps after launch

• Google reviews. Ask happy customers. Reviews help on Google Maps, and AI tools read them too.
• Consistent details. Use the same business name, phone number and address on your website, Google Business Profile, Facebook and directories.
• Links from other local websites. Suppliers, partners, clubs and local directories that link to you tell Google you're real.
• A page for each main service. Each page is another chance to come up for that search. An extra page, including design and copywriting, is NZ$300 + GST.
